After Italian surgeon introduced stapled hemorrhoidopexy in the early 90’s and it has been a broadly accepted practice in Europe. This procedure avoids wounding the delicate perianal area thus reducing postoperative pain considerably. The leading stage of stapled hemorrhoidopexy is removal of irregularly swollen pileal tissue. This technique employs a unique circular stapler which reduces the degree of prolapse by excising a strip of skin from the anal canal. The final effect of this procedure is that hemorrhoidal cushions are pulled back up into their normal anatomical position. The inpatient process can be performed with regional anesthesia and patients can be discharged either the same day or day following surgery. After operation the level of pain is not very high so most patients can return to work and normal life after just a few days.
